Introducing Laurina Rushworth, Director of Faith and Religious Groups at Yarnfield Park.
What is the role of Director of Faith & Religious Groups for Yarnfield Park?
My role is to support the business and encourage people from faith, spiritual and religious groups to host their events at Yarnfield Park, or one of the sites within The Venues Collection which Yarnfield is a part of. And for us to become the venue of choice for faith groups. I am also here to educate and support my colleagues, so that we can best serve the needs of the groups coming to us.
How have you found your role at Yarnfield Park?
It has been an amazing journey for me and a great privilege to work in this role, to learn about, and meet people from so many different faiths and denominations.
As a person of faith myself, I am delighted to be able to share my faith with both colleagues and clients. I feel it gives me a unique perspective of what clients may require from a venue and supports them in their experience when choosing a venue.
Can you tell us about your interests outside of life at Yarnfield Park?
I am very fortunate to have been selected by the Church of England, to study as an ordinand, training for priesthood. I began the training in September 2024, at a local Theological College in the midlands. If successful, I would hopefully be ordained as a deacon in 2026, which I am very excited about!
How has your studies impacted your role?
I have been in the role here at Yarnfield Park for over 2 years now, and it has really enhanced my experience towards my studies, and vice versa with my studies enhancing my role.
It has been interesting to see how my ministry might develop from a commercial perspective, and what this brings to my training and pastoral activities in training as a priest.
What do Yarnfield Park and its sister sites within The Venues Collection offer clients?
The Venues Collection consists of 3 hotels and 2 conference and training centres, broadly centred around the midlands area.
I work specifically with religious groups to help them find the best venue for their requirements. We can cater for all types of events, from large scale training and youth conferences to smaller scale family events, ministry team gatherings and pastoral retreats. We have a varied collection of venues which allows us to offer something for everybody, from 2 people to 500 people!
